- Answer This HP Printer supports single cartridge mode, to Use the single-cartridge mode to operate the HP Officejet 5740 series with only one ink cartridge. The single-cartridge mode is initiated when an ink cartridge is removed from the ink cartridge carriage. During single-cartridge mode, the printer can copy documents, copy photos, and print jobs from the computer.

QuestionSome printers use a lot of expensive ink. How does the 5740 compare with other 4-1 units on cost of ink in the long run?

- Answer I bought this printer based on the cost of the ink. My last printer ink was so expensive $75. So i came out better by buying this one. And the replacement ink is less expensive. And plus you can buy the hp instant ink on a monthly basis.

QuestionFaxing questionDoes this model enable faxing capability without having to go through PC or Laptop? In other words, would I be able to scan something directly to a fax # without having to load it up from a computer file?

- Answer This printer was made to operate wirelessly. That being said...I have mine connected to my HP printer with a cable. This is the second HP wireless printer I have purchased from HP. I am using the cable that came with the HP printer that I was using before I bought the first HP wireless printer. It works just fine. If you DO NOT have a cable from a non-wireless printer, you should be able to buy one from HP on the the internet-or Check with Office depot, Best Buy or staples-they all carry HP printers, and should be able to sell you a cable that will allow you to Hook Up the wireless printer to your computer-which is how non-wireless printers ar hooked up to the computer. That way, if you have photos on your hard drive, you can access them by using going to "My Photos", or what ever name your stored photos are listed under

- Answer Yea legal size paper can be used. On the front left side of the paper tray there is a slide that will allow you to lay the paper tray down. Once that is done you will be able to print legal size

- Answer Adjust the font on the document or item you are printing then save it. Then reopen it and print. By simply magnifying the item then printing will keep the original settings for printer. Most document software also has print settings to use to increase the size. For instance in Word if you select, File, Print, then in the bottom right hand corner you will see the option to enlarge in the preview section.

QuestionCapability to scan multiple pictures at once?I am looking to replace a stand alone printer and scanner with an all-in-one. I wanted to know if the scanner can scan in multiple photos at once on the flatbed. With the scanner I have now, I can load multiple photos on the flatbed. The scanner is then able to auto-detect the edges of multiple pictures and scans them in as separate images. Thanks for you help.

- Answer I can't tell you but I have had bad experiences with generic ink cartridges in the past with other printers so I only use genuine HP ink.
