As far as I understand since I have experienced the ink with the printer and then also received a shipment of Instant Ink, the cartridges that come with the printer are regular - in as much as the Instant Ink cartridges which came by mail are larger and therefore have greater capacity.

All new HP ink jet printers, like the OfficeJet 8015e, include setup ink cartridges in the box, which have lower page yields than replacement HP cartridges. If you elect to subscribe to HP Instant Ink, they will function as Instant Ink cartridges and should last until your regular Instant Ink cartridges arrive. If you elect not to subscribe, the included cartridges will work like regular ink cartridges. Again, the ink cartridges included with the printer have lower page yields than regular or XL cartridges.
