• The main difference is that the HP OfficeJet Pro 6978 will automatically handle two sided copies of documents using the document feeder. The HP 6968 will not.

• Dear Ron; According to my experiences setting up both machines, I don't see any difference between them. My choice: the HP 6968. It prints solid, quality prints; it is easy to operate; the ink is inexpensive; and you will enjoy many years of use with this product. Inkjet printers are still the rave with most consumers; I don't expect that to change. Hope that helps.
