QuestionDoes it print "transparencies" (plastic clear sheets used with overhead projectors)? -- If there is any heat produced in printing, the plastic may melt. Also can the ink hold on to the slick plastic? Would be a little slicker than photo paper.

- Answer Yes, this printer can print on transparency sheets so long as they are inkjet transparency sheets. The ink will hold onto the plastic.

QuestionSomeone asked a similar question, but I was wondering if anyone else may have had a different experience and I figured I word the question differently. If you run out of one color, can you still print in black and white or are you unable to print at all?

- Answer Good question. You will not be able to print at all. A little ink from all the ink cartridges is used in periodic servicing tasks. This helps to prevent issues such as printhead clogs and poor print quality. There is no way to bypass this feature. The printer needs all cartridges to have ink in them before you can print in black. I hope this helps.

- Answer Good question. They do not take the same ink cartridges. The 8610 uses HP 950/951/ The 8710 uses HP 952 cartridges for black and the 3 colors. I hope this helps.

- Answer If you want a model which will allow you to print without any ink but the black installed you should look at our OfficeJet 5255. It has a two cartridge design which allows you to remove one ink and continue to print. In the OfficeJet Pro 8700 (and any other printer with individual inks like your 8600) you need all inks present. This is because the printhead, which is what puts ink on the paper, is separate from the cartridges. If the printhead does not have a continuous supply of liquid ink it will dry out and the printhead will be permanently damaged. The printers with the two cartridge systems actually have the printhead on the cartridge. This means you can remove an empty ink (like the color) and continue to print with the remaining black ink installed. I would certainly recommend checking out the OfficeJet 5255.

QuestionI have enrolled EASY REPLENISH for ink of this model, if my ink runs out what kind of ink best buy will send me and how much ink cost for me to pay. keep in mind this product has free ink direct at hp when registered, confused which one hp or bestbuy.

- Answer Easy Replenish is a service offered through Best Buy. It sends you whatever ink cartridges your printer uses when your printer needs it at a 10% discount and free shipping. HP Instant Ink is offered through HP. With this program you do not buy ink but pay based on pages printed, not ink used. There are different monthly plans, $2.99 for 50 pages, $4.99 for 100 pages, $9.99 for 300 pages and also some business plans for even more pages. When the printer needs ink it uses the WiFi which notifys HP who then sends you a super XL set of ink. You do not pay for the ink or shipping, just your monthly plan.

- Answer You could add a second tray but the cost is fairly high compared to getting a model like the 8740 which already has the two trays.

- Answer Absolutely! I have a Samsung Note 5 - it was very easy to download the app and start printing photos. However, remember to place the correct size photo paper in the paper tray, select the size on the printer screen and also select the size on the photo printing menu after asking it to print. There are lots of choices like borders, orientation and paper size. I'm pretty happy with this printer. My entire household is printing to it now from computers, phones, and ipads. Hope this helps.

- Answer The cost of the cartridges for XL was about $40 each. We decided to go with the HP ink replacement program. Since the cost is $2.99 or $4.99/ month for our level of use, it made better cost decision. You may want to look st your monthly usage to see if the program will work for you.

- Answer You can authorize just the computers you want to be able to print. Set-up was easy. I just followed the directions that came with it. You set up an email address for the printer and simply send an email using the printers address with attached file and it will print. You can just give the email address to both people you want to have access. Very easy. Hope it helped.

- Answer The flatbed measures 8-5/8 x 11-7/8. However, it has an autofeed tray in addition to the flatbed so should accommodate 8-1/2 x 14. The paper tray does accommodate 8-1/2 x 14 paper.
