Yes you can bump the RAM to 8GB. This PC is a little harder to open but it is accessible. You need to follow the instructions in the Maintenance and Service Guide (which is a 90 page wonderful document on HP's site - I think HP has one for each of their various models). In short you remove 12 screws from the bottom, flip it over and pull up the keyboard and remove a couple ZIF ribbon cables (a little tricky as keyboard is held in by tabs) - but you're using the same procedure a Best Buy Geek would do as you follow the steps in the manual. I replaced the HDD with an SDD I cloned using a free program called EASEUS Backup. Wow is it faster now. Anyway the memory is under a shield and their is one slot so you would have to remove the 4GB and insert an 8GB. It will give you better performance but not the uplift you get with an SSD. The memory spec from the same manual I mentioned is 8-GB (PCL3, 12800, 1600; for use only on computer models equipped with an Intel Pentium or Intel Celeron processor) p/n: 693374-005 The 4 GB is DDR3L-1600 SDRAM (1 x 4 GB), the 4GB p/n should be: 691740-005 Note: if you follow the steps to swap in the SSD, it will tell you to remove the power cable from the battery and also another ZIF ribbon connector on the HDD. Lastly if you go to the HP site you can find the Hardware and Maintenance Manual at http://support.hp.com/us-en/search?q=m-u001dx%20Maintenance%20and%20Service%20Guide&filter= scroll down and select the document called: HP Pavilion x360 m1 Convertible PC (model numbers m1-u100 through m1- u199 and m1-u000 through m1-u099) - Maintenance and Service Guide.

Gto the HP site and get the Hardware and Service Manual. Read the instructions and figure if you want to try the dis-assembly steps.

Search around on google I find this spec sheet from HP www8.hp.com/h20195/v2/GetPDF.aspx/c05101270.pdf Look like it is inaccessible for user, so I don't think we can get inside to add more RAM easily. Unless we are willing to do extreme operation on this laptop, and the best we can do is upgrade from 4g to 8g. I doubt a small laptop like this has 2 slots for RAM.
