QuestionWhy does this model have a battery life of 17 hours but the 16-f1023dx version of this model have a battery life of 9 hours?

- Answer Thank you for the question. The battery life should be similar for both models, the 16-F1023dx and 16-F1013dx. The specification for the F1023 indicates "long life", while the specification for the F1013 indicates up to 15 hours (up to 19 hours for video playback). Both units use the same battery - 6 cells, 83wh. Note that the F1023 has a UHD OLED display, and the F1013 has a 3K display. The F1023 charges at 135w, and fast charges up to 50% in 30 minutes, whereas the F1013 charges at 90w, and fast charges up to 50% in 45 minutes. Battery life will be affected by settings and work load (screen brightness, open tabs/apps, use of wifi, etc.).

QuestionI got the laptop. The disk space is down to 420 GB already out of the box. This is after I installed all the software (like McAfee, etc.). This is quite a difference from the 512GB. Is this normal or perhaps something wrong with the SSD?

- Answer This normal because the operating systems and the recovery partition on the drive will use up some of the 512gb space.

QuestionCan this unit be charged with a USB-C cord, through one of the Thunderbolt ports, or do you have to use a transformer box type cord? (ie; clunky box between the wall socket and the standard, round, charge port)

- Answer The manual says to use the charger that comes with it, but I have been using a Thunderbolt dock for charging for weeks with no issues.

- Answer This model is considered non-upgradeable. If you are curious about upgrading this unit, you can contact HP Support or Geek Squad about possible options. It is recommended that should you decide to upgrade this unit that you have a certified technician do the upgrades. If Geek Squad were to upgrade the unit for you, it would not void the HP warranty, but HP will not cover the new parts.

- Answer As of 4/14/2022 this particular model of the 16 inch Spectre x360 is not listed on HPs website. Needless to say, it still has not been released in the US.

- Answer Thank you for the question. You have a couple of choices. The Spectre 16-f1013dx has one HDMI port and two Thunderbolt 4 USB-C ports that support DisplayPort. You can connect both monitors to USB-C (you might need an adapter, depending on your monitor inputs), or one via HDMI and one via DisplayPort. The latter might be optimal, as it leaves the other Thunderbolt port available for power delivery if you choose not to use the Smart Pin.

QuestionI have an external device I need to connect to this computer to upgrade the firmware. I can’t do it with blue tooth. What type of converter would I need? The external device has a connection like a printer. Thanks!

- Answer You can get an adapter for your external device. There is only one USB port and there is a c port at the back corner of the laptop. I ended up buying an adapter that has that cord so that I could use multiple usb external hard drives. They don’t always have a great selection at best buy or box stores. Try looking online.

- Answer Thank you for the question. The Spectre 16-f1013dx has onboard memory - soldered to the motherboard. It is not upgradeable except by a highly skilled professional technician. Self-upgrading may void the warranty. The SSD can be switched out for one of more capacity.

QuestionSpecifications says it has lithium-ion polymer batteries instead of the usual lithium-ions. I heard that LiPo batteries have shorter charged cycles and are less durable. Will this affect my laptops lifespan?

QuestionDoes the front facing speakers make the sound better then laptops with the speakers in the bottom of the laptop specifically the Samsung - Galaxy Book2 Pro 360. Also which laptop has a better microphone?
