It comes with a mouse and a small piece that hooks into your USB port of your laptop, desktop or wherever you're using it. If it requires a battery you put that in if not turn the switch on should be on the bottom. Now if the piece is plugged into your device and Mouse is turned on lights should flash indicating it's on and set up is complete. How it works is some wireless technology in the piece that connects with the mouse even from a far distance
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.X4000 Wireless Laser Mouse can be used as a regular wireless mouse, the receiver works by pairing the (mouse, keyboard,) to the USB receiver. When the receiver was first plugged into the USB port, did any type of message appear (an error message, or anything)? In many cases, you would only see a message if this was the first time that the receiver was plugged in. After that, Operating System (OS) usually recognizes the device and does not display a message again. In Windows OS navigate to "device manager" do you see any items with a yellow exclamation mark next to it? if you don't the Link5 will communicate with your devices. Batteries, normally the devices (mouse, keyboard) will have the battery life detection installed and some of them transmit it to the computer.
