The turntable is removable but I wouldn't use the microwave without it.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.My son broke the turntable in my previous microwave. We were able to use the microwave but things don't cook evenly without turning. Apparently there is uneven microwave / heat distribution so part of the item being cooked or heated is warm and part is cold and part is burnt. This unit is the same size as my old one and moderately priced. I doubt that it will cook more evenly than my older one.
