Yes, you can transport it laying down as long as you don't plug it in too soon. Plugging it in too soon after laying down can damage the cooling system. The guy at best buy told me the ratio is about 2 to 4 hours of standing upright for every half hour of laying down. I transported mine on its side for about 30 minutes and let it sit upright overnight just to be sure before plugging it in, and it works fine.
