QuestionInsignis Model #NS-RTM18WH8Q IIf there is a power outage will this fridge come back on when the power comes up or do you have to reset. According to the manual it appears you have to reset after a power outage. What if you are not home??

- Answer I had a power outage and when the power came back I noticed it was still not running. I pulled the plug then plugged it back in and it powered up. I was not aware that it needed to be reset

- Answer I recently purchased this fridge and keep it in the garage. It has not gotten above 90 here, but it is warming up outside. The fridge is doing fine holding temp in the freezer and main compartment, both set in the middle. I may bump them a tad colder once we get into true summer, otherwise, steady as she goes.

QuestionSomeone in one of the reviews said that if there is a power failure, this refrigerator will not restart on it's own once the power is restored and you have to unplug and plug it back into the outlet. If that's true that's a horrible design?

- Answer I haven't had that happen, but if you are considering this Insignia refrigerator, I highly recommend an Igloo cooler instead. Way better quality. Seriously, though, this thing is not worth the frustration with the wire racks, freezer won't stay shut, defrosts all over the floor and inside of the fridge - and we don't even have water hooked up to it.

- Answer Yes, the fridge shelves are wire also. The bottom one, on too of the bin, is tempered glass.

QuestionGlass shelves would make a big difference. The glass shelves from model NS-RTM18SS7 - would they fit? NS-RTM18SS7 has the identical dimensions - and the part number for the crisper glass shelf is identical between these two models.

- Answer Yes. i did so in a little over an hour. I forgot one screw going back together that wasted 10 minutes, but it's fairly straight forward. It does require some slow incremental loosening and tightening due to the inability to get a full turn on the combination wrench.

QuestionI had this refrigerator delivered to a rental apartment of mine yesterday 06/01/2020. The tenant has called me twice already saying the outside of the refrigerator on both sides is very hot her thermometer reads it at 102 degrees. Is this normal?

- Answer Yes, BestBuy haul away your old refrigerator when your new refrigerator is delivered, but you have to inform BestBuy when you place your new refrigerator that you want that service, and you have to pay them a fee. I paid $19.99 for hauling away my old unit.

- Answer Haven't had a reason to defrost yet, seems to be frost-less freezer though. Ice cubes "Shrink" if left in freezer for a long time. Indicates it is pulling moisture OUT of freezer lending to it being Frost-Free.

- Answer I was concerned about that too when mine arrived. It took really about 48 hours for the refrigerator to be completely at the correct temperature. I added drink bottles immediately, and other food only after 48 hours. After it was fully stocked and reached the correct temperature, the sides are no longer hot to the touch. I bought 2 refrigerator thermometers and it does maintain the correct temperatures at the recommended settings. When I first got the refrigerator I turned the temperature setting to the highest level. Unfortunately, I forgot to turn it back down once it was fully cooled and a glass water bottle in the back of the top shelf froze and broke. So make sure you don't run it on the coolest setting for very long!
