Yes, the USB 3.0 card should work just fine. I checked the specs on the Dell XPS 8300 line, and you should have a couple of free PCI Express slots. You'll need to open the case, remove one of the back slot covers, insert the card, and connect a free floppy disk power line from the power supply to the card. I didn't have to install any drivers when I did it for mine, but they include a driver disc just in case you need to. Refer to page 37 of the Dell XPS maintenance manual if you need official guidance on installing PCI Express cards here: ftp://ftp.dell.com/Manuals/all-products/esuprt_desktop/esuprt_xps_desktop/xps-8300_service%20manual_en-us.pdf
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Did you have any luck with this yet? Opening the case should be as easy as removing two retaining screws on the back that hold a side panel in place. I'd remove the side on your left as you face the front of the computer. You should an open PCIe slot available which is usually white in color and about 1 1/4 inches long. You need to remove the cover plate from the opening in the back of the computer by unscrewing its retaining screw from the inside. Save this screw. Insert the new USB 3.0 card into the slot and press down gently until it is firmly seated. Then use the saved screw to anchor it in place. Reboot and you should be in business. :-)
