The manual gives good photos showing how to load silverware into the upper rack. We have been using the silverware bin for silverware, and the upper rack for cutlery and cooking utensils. You are supposed to stand the utensils on edge in the many little slots provided. Larger cooking utensils cannot be stood on edge, due to height limitation. Laying the stuff flat, we notice some items are not cleaned well. It's construction and design (you can adjust it for various scenarios--see manual) are satisfactory, but the whole thing seems a little flimsy. Nevertheless, we really like having a place to put the larger cooking utensils, even if we have to be sure they are thoroughly rinsed before putting them on the rack.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The third top rack is great. It is for the big spoons, spatulas, etc. you lay them flat. I put lids laying flat, then they don't fall through . It is the best feature yet for a dishwasher. It cleans just as good as the rest of the dishes. You will love it.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You would have to lay it flat, although there is a silverware holder that fits in the bottom rack. We use the top rack for items like large serving spoons, pancake turners etc.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I place them on their sides -- and yes, they clean as well as in the bottom of the silverware basket. I removed the silverware basket so I could put other items in that space. I think that the third rack idea is the best thing that came along in a very long time.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I place my wood spoons and other long utensils on the top rack so they don't get in the way of the top propellor. The dishwasher does an excellent job cleaning these long utensils! I believe I have seen a picture of other silverware placed neatly on the top rack in spots made for individual forks, spoons, knives, etc. but I don't bother doing that with my silverware. The silverware basket is used in my dishwasher in this case.
