I had the same issue, but finally figured how to maneuver or wiggle the plug to make it get inside. It takes a bit of work unlike your regular outlet. Remember it's tamper resistant and that's why it makes it difficult to get the plug inside. Again, you need to wiggle it or come into the outlet from an angle. Almost like you were trying to pry the port holes with a screw driver (don't try with a screw driver or else...shock!) use the prongs of the source to do the same. Angle it slightly left or right then push in slightly. Hope this helps you figure things out.
