“Does anyone know who owns the Insignia(TM) brand (freezer)...Maytag,Frigidaire, Whirlpool or is it a Best Buy brand? I can see that the reviews are good for a Brand I've never heard of...just checking!”

• I was told today from best buy that even though it says its insignia its actually fridadaire...He said that they only put the insgnia label on it because its best buy store. He specifically told me its one and the same as fridadare but fridadaire costs a lot more... Hope that helps...btw i goodled fridadaire today and yes the same exact freezer just two different names....

• There are only three companies making freezers in large numbers that I know of. Electrorux, whirlpool and haier. Haier is a Chinese company that bought the appliance division of GE. The insignia freezer is a Haier product. It is probably identical to the units they sell with the GE badge. FYI, Electrolux owns fridgidaire. This freezer is not a Frigidaire as far as I can tell. I own the 7cu until. Works great for me. Note, I only use it as a cool box. Controlled by an 'ink bird' at 65f for beer fermentation. Haha. Was this helpful? Wiki this stuff, it is interesting.
