I turned my 5.0 freezer on about an hour ago and the left front, the left side and the back are warm to the touch. The right side is not warm. On another manufacturer's website I found the following: "It is common for both chest and upright freezers to feel warm (sometimes even hot to the touch) on the sides. Chest freezers have the condenser wrapped around the outside of the case. The outside white surface is actually acting as the condenser to remove heat from the inside. If the compressor is not running, the sides may feel cool at times - this is normal." I assume that is why they want you to keep six inches of space around the freezer. It would be nice for Insignia to add this to their booklet and/or online specs.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, it is normal to feel warm to the touch.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The problem may be that you've set the thermostat too low. I set mine midway it got so hot that I assumed that it was defective. I reset it to around 4 o'clock and it is working fine now.
