You could place it on a hardwood floor although I would not. The drain is on the front but any drip would end up discoloring the floor. It's best to have some impervious liner. Measure the freezer and look for appliance trays in your local appliance or hardware big box store. They sell then for washing machines and that may just fit your needs.

I have it in a room that varies in temperature from about 65 at night to 70 during the day. There is plenty of space all around it - I don't know if that makes a difference in condensation.
