The lid itself just needs to be cleaned under warm soapy water and washed off well. The seal ring is what you need to remove and wash well to help get the odor out of it. We wash our Pot and seal ring in the dish washer but the actual Base and Lid we just clean with warm soapy water and rinse.

Let soapy water run through the part that releases the pressure, the rinse it thoroughly. I leave it overnight to dry, the use hand towel to dry any areas that still has drops of moisture.
