The 30 feet requirement is not line of sight, but counts all wire length. This includes distance up or down the wall, under floor, through ceiling, etc.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I just hoped to add on to this very correct information. I was using this protector temporarily in my bedroom to connect my 4K TV, satellite box, AV receiver, Amazon Fire TV box, and the Logitech Harmony remote system that controls it all. As the previous person mentioned it was a inexpensive device to just give me the space to plug it all in, knowing that it was not adequate for good protection. Well, that was a costly mistake. We just had a bad storm where the power was affected and turned on and off repeatedly many times. Somewhere in all of that my costly mistake happened. I now have a TV that will not power on, the AV receiver will not through-put video any longer, the satellite box no longer works, the Amazon box is no longer working, there is also a 50 ft HDMI cable that goes from a splitter to a projector that hangs above the bed and shines on a electric screen that comes down when it is turned on. Well that HDMI cable is fried, and the HDMI 2 port that it was plugged into on the projector no longer functions. During all of this I was watching a movie in my home theater room which uses two much more expensive power cleaning/surge protection devices. There was absolutely no affect there. I say all this as a plea for others to completely understand how true the statement "Buy this for the convenient outlets, on sale (I paid $10). Look elsewhere for surge protection." that was already said is. I highly recommend getting a protective device that offers a warranty that covers the price of new devices that it powers. I have attached a link to a few choices below. They are more expensive but worth it. Above and beyond that you can purchase whole home surge protection that is mounted into the breaker panel of your home and protects everything including those devices such as kitchen appliances that we fail to consider how much replacing all of would cost. These can cost less than $100 plus the cost of installation that needs to be done by a professional electrician.
I would recommend:
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.600 Jules? IT will cost you a bit more, but none of mine are less that 2400 Jules each. They cost me an average of about $25 each, I just can't take any chances with the electronics I plug into them. I have not seen that warning on any of mine and I have ran over 50' of extension cord with no issues.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I guess I would agree, but I had mine connected above the electrical panel and we got a surge and everything is still fine. I think it must mean the length of the wire from the box to the surge protector should be no less than 30 feet, which isn't hard because there is at least 10 feet between the box and my first outlet in the garage. Either way, I'll agree, get a better protection device if you really need the protection, this is more of a outlet expander.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I've had no problems at all with this.
