What I do... 1.) Put food in 2.) Lock lid 3.) Turn knob on top to Silink/Seelink (left side, cause I believe they dont say which is which) Otherwise it wont start cooking. 4.) Press whatever button for whichever meat; like chicken or meat (I use meat for roast as well) 5.) Timer will appear; you can even adjust the time + or - if you need extra or less time. Incase, if it's frozen food, and/or already cooked frozen meat; ex: meatballs. 6.) Press Start (usually numbers dont show up cause you have to give a few minutes for it to heat up so recipe takes longer than time frame; which wont effect it. I find it nice for the extra minutes of cooking. You got to give it the time to probably heat up to the heat setting for whatever you are cooking. And then the timer will come on. So you know it's cooking now.) Finally, when done turn knob on top to vent (right one; the pressure will start to come out) from silink (make sure to step back) and let out all the pressure. Sometimes it will scare you. Wait til it's done, then unlock lid;sometimes you'll want to step back as well during this process because of the steam that will come out. We don't have the manual button like the InstantPot. (I have the 8 quart as well). Tip: look up recipes on YouTube. Also, The InstantPot Bible. Another thing on YouTube, you'll get helpful advice and cleanin tips. Also, make sure it is cleaned properly every time before use, the one video explains it because if it's not cleaned properly your Cooker will not cook until it is.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Assuming you have picked a cooking setting; i.e.: meat, fish, etc...and your release valve is closed it does take a while to build up pressure. Also, the more liquid you put in the cooker, the longer it takes to reach pressure. I usually use a half to a full cup of liquid. And of course, don't forget to hit the start button after you've made your selections.
