Unfortunately, you will not know when the pressure is too high except when you see steam coming from the floating valve. That is why that floating valve must stay clean and unclogged. The only time I have noticed my floating valve releasing excess pressure was when I was cooking with more liquid than the minimum of at least one cup, such as cooking soup. Only fill to the maximum volume, according to the user guide, for the food that you are cooking in order to prevent the float valve from becoming clogged while cooking.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Right next to the pressure release there is a silver safety button that needs to go down on its own before you open the pot. So you turn the black pressure release knob to release pressure then wait for the silver button to fall on its own. Once that happens you can safely open the pot.
