My mother-in-law also has an iPod mini, but it was probably packed in a storage box in her closet so we haven't dug it out yet. Based on her interest, I would say the mini does use a 30 pin charging cable.

Most iPod Mini chargers should have been the older 3.5mm aux to usb-a charging. Double check the model number Mini you have and search Apple support for more tech specs to confirm your charging type. More than likely it’s the “headphone charger” 3.5mm to usb for iPod Mini.
