No, It is not a waterproof case, only protects from exposure to dry elements, sun, sand, dirt, drops, and scrapes.

From what I have experienced while using it, yes it can help prevent water damage. However it is not 100% secure of course.

It will prevent the airpods case from getting wet but does not made the product waterproof, therefore would not recommend to submerge it since there are spaces that water could reach in.
