It can but if it's only rated for indoor use, the outer cover of the cable is going to weather and crack in the sun and eventually fail. If you run it inside conduit then it's fine. If you don't have conduit you'll have to purchase the more expensive outdoor cat5 that has a weather proof outer layer.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, but there is a specific type that has extra shielding on it to make it more weather resistant. Standard CAT5e will likely be OK as I have run it outside myself and if its hugging a structure and not just running out in the open you will likely be fine. If you are running over extended, exposed distances then you should try to put it in conduit tube or buried conduit. Beyond that you can't do much harm. If you run an outdoor cable and it degrades, it won't hurt anything so my rule it try it, and if it works for years then who cares about the specification, it works.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Dear Vince; If you run an ethernet cable outside, put it in a plastic tube to protect it. That would be best. Throwing it in dirt and letting the elements eat away at it is not suggested. But burying it in a plastic tube and sealing it should be fine. Best of luck, Consultant Brian
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I wouldn't recommend it - not without protection in a mild climate.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I do not recommend using outdoors because it was not built for outdoors. Corrosion will set in on pins and cause failure.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. Not with out being in some sort of protective conduit, cable wouldn't hold up to the outdoor elements for long
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I did and it works fine but i dont know for how long i live in Washington and it rains alot but so far so good
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, I've done than in the past. But I assume that also depends on the quality of the line and where you place it.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.yes, just make sure that if any of your connection points are outside, they are kept waterproof.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The coupler is not made to be used in the elements of the outdoors.
