You need either a Dvi-DVi or a Dvi-Vga adapter.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. Some monitors have different outputs (DVI, VGA, HDMI, DisplayPort) so depending on which monitor you buy will determine which adaptor you need.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It depends on what port or ports your second monitor has and what ports you Dell laptop has. My computer had both HDMI and DVI ports but the DVI port was not DVI-A -- there are big differences in DVI ports. Find out about differences before you buy if you have a DVI port. My previous monitor had DVI capability so I had a DVI connector which I threw out when the monitor no longer worked.. My new monitor has choice of VGA or HDMI so Iwas using HDMI which has higher capabilities. But connection went bad and it was suggested by virtual support that since I had DVI port on computer I try DVI to VGA adapter to the VGA port on monitor. But this adapter was the wrong DVI connection - there are very specific choices so you need to know what you are looking at at both ends before you purchase adapters or cables.
