• It comes with an external antenna, included in the bag with the manual. If you want to use a longer one, the external antenna plugs in with a mono 1/8th inch jack, so if the one you have does not have that, you'll have to adapt it.

• Yes, there is a 3.5mm mono (NOT stereo) headphone style jack for an external antenna. This radio also comes with an approx. 6ft. wire antenna that can be used if the telescopic antenna does not work well enough under the existing reception conditions.

• Yes, there is a pigtail jack for an external antenna on the back of the Insignia radio. IT disables the main FM antenna when used. But should improve signal capture strength when used. Pigtail antennae have a longer wire and therefore pull more signal for the radio to use.

• Mine came with a 3.5mm pigtail antenna, in addition to the telescoping antenna. If you can find a 3.5mm adapter to your external antenna, like to BNC, it could be plugged into the back.

• there is a plug in the back of the unit that you can attach a pigtail antenna (look like a simple wire) that is included. This antenna provided better reception that the onboard extendible antenna. Perhaps you can replace the included pigtail antenna with a better one, but I don't know much about that. However, the digital HD radio signals don't need to be as powerful as the analog ones, so you might be good with the included antenna.

• Yes you can add an external antenna. The pigtail antenna is an external antenna. You can make your own pigtail antenna with a stereo pulg and some wire. I bought an external FM antenna the othe day. I will put it up on a pole and run coax inside. I will make an adaptor from coax to the antenna plug on the back of the antenna. That should really help with reception.
