Turns on ambient microphone and feeds signal to the earpieces. Basically a really big hearing aid. Useful if you're listening to something and someone wants to talk to you. Just hit the monitor button and you now hear the world around you. Note that this mode mutes mp3 audio but does not pause it. It's still playing while you listen to the world around you IRL.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.The purpose is to bypass your music and amplify ambient noise in order to “monitor” your surroundings. The button actually keys up a mic and amplifies what’s going on around you. Hit it once and listen to ambient noise and hit it again and it turns the mic off.
