Yeah as it turns out this is some false advertising on this thing, it's a glorified USB-C charger. It doesn't put out enough power to actually keep the Switch charged while you're using it connected to the TV, so it simply doesn't work with the Dock. Best to return it and buy a Nintendo charger + adapter. It doesn't have to be the original one that came with your Switch if yours broke or got lost, but it does need to be the OEM because of the power required.

As further information, what version of the switch do you have a 1st gen, 2nd gen, or switch lite. You can tell between generations, by if the box it came in was red or not. I have a first gen switch, but the second gen has a different battery that may not be compatible with the charger
