Q: QuestionCan you connect this disposal to a dishwasher? And can I use it to replace my old 1/3 horsepower Sinkguard?

• A:Answer Yes, there is a knock-off slot where you can connect the hose from a dishwasher. With regards to the 1/3 HP Sinkguard, I'm not familiar with this product but looking at the pictures online, it's probably just a smaller "neck" so some pipes may need to either be replaced, or adjusted by a plumber. But it should be OK to replace it. If you want to re-use the same pipe configuration, you're better off getting a similar model. But if you're OK with changing the pipes to brand new fittings (which is usually a good thing), then this product should be OK as a replacement.

A disposer will fit a single bowl or half bowl, stainless steel, or other material. The standard 3.5-inch (90mm) sink opening is ideal, and the disposer comes with an attachment for that size. However, accessory flanges are available for most non-standard sinks.
