A replacement battery, taken to a phone repair shop (not Geek Squad at Best Buy) had been put in my iPhone and in a couple of months, the battery swelled, discolored the screen and, it was pointed out while I by Geek Squad, it was also bending the case, not to mention phone was crashing. When I took it to Geek Squad (which was what I should have done in the first place) and I was told that the battery could very likely explode. Don’t fiddle around. Take it in and you may need to get a new phone which is what I ended up doing.

When they replace the battery, they replace the seal/gasket too, but it turns out my particular screen lift is separate from the battery and actually requires a LCD replacement as well ($300!!!) and the cost to replace my model (X) right now is just under $600 so I’ll ride this til it dies and then end up doing the same, unfortunately. I appreciate you filling me in on your experience too!
