• Yes, it does clean large areas. I have wood floors and it cleans without leaving streaks. I do use a white vinegar and water cleaning solution. Some "soap" based cleansers can leave residue.

• No. Can you mop the area and not clean your mop out? It uses a super small pad that will nbe ed to be changed or cleaned every few passes
