I have a two-floor house as well and every couple days I'll take my Roomba upstairs to clean and it has no trouble going back and forth. I would recommend taking the docking station with you when you change floors since when it's battery gets low it will try to return to its docking station.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I have the same situation, and I have it permenantly setup in the upstairs section (largest vacuuming section). When I want to use it downstairs, I just pick it up and place it downstairs then press the clean button. It will then vacuum the downstairs area and return to where I put it down when it is finished. The only challenge is if it needs to clean more than the battery life, as it will not be able to charge if you don’t also bring the charging station down. As a tip, I normally only vacuum one room at a time in the downstairs section, place it in the room, press the clean button and then close the door behind me. If you have the cell phone app, it will notify you when it is finished. To answer your question about it remembering the pattern, it maps out it’s pattern each time you clean, hence why it works well when you place it in a new place.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It works by feel every time, adapting to changes in furniture and other objects. Thus, you should have no issues changing floors. However, you will want to relocate both the Roomba and its docking station when changing floors. The unit should be started from the docking station, so it has a place to return 'home' to. It will remember the floor plan that it swept, but will not use that floor plan to determine how to sweep the next time.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.can i switch from upstairs to downstairs?
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It doesn't seem to matter. We bring ours between floors. It seems you need to put the basestation in a room when you move it. The Roomba will figure it out.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Only remembers the floor plan when you start a “ new” cleaning. Which means it can start a cycle and fill up or run dead then recharge or empty bin then return to where it left off. New cycle means starting from new. I have a two story home and move it from downstairs to upstairs several times a week!!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I have a two story home and it works fine moving it from either story. The robot only remembers its working location when you start a “new” cleaning, meaning every time it completes a cleaning you can move it from one story to the next!!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. My understanding is that the robot does not remember rooms but rather re-maps each times it runs. I have used this in multiple areas of the house and the Roomba has no difficulty switching between areas.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. Its not like its going to remember everything as people move things around but it knows how to handle the changes and the main thing is that it vacuums very well and it should finish vacuuming the floor. Just put it one day at one floor and then another day on the second floor. You can schedule it for the days and time you want it to vacuum. My recommendation its to leave it by default in the floor that usually gets more dirt and such.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes it does. Works perfectly on my upstairs/downstairs.
