Well, sort of... If cords are ran adjacent to the walls, they will most likely not be an issue. The 980 includes 2 virtual walls, and we are using one of them to block the area past our entertainment center to avoid having to tidy up cords in that area. We do try to keep most other cords off the ground (e.g. when one of us is using a laptop on the couch and it is plugged in while the Roomba is going). After a few days/week of using the Roomba, you should have resolved any issues or obstacles that may be. We find that the Roomba has forced us to be more organized with cords and even laundry (socks on the floor can cause a Roomba wheel to get stuck). It sounds high maintenance, but in reality, 95% of the time the Roomba will negotiate most obstacles around the house. The Roomba doesn't just bump around aimlessly... It uses various sensors (including a camera above it) to make decisions on how to tackle areas. It's really impressive to watch and, at times, it even seems like it's thinking (it will look around a few times and then choose a path...really amusing). We have found that the amount of time we have regained from not having to manually vacuum as often is worth the small effort of clearing the floors up. Think of it as whenever your (or someone else's) toddler is about to enter a room and you make a conscious effort to remove any "not-kid-friendly" objects. This is the sort of exercise you'll go through for the first few days to a week.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It has sensors and cameras. but if you have cords just laying out, it will go over them and possible unplug them. it takes about 2 weeks and it starts to avoid areas it has problems with. There has to be enough space for the Irobot to get at them. look at the dimensions. It unplugged our power couch from the couch, not the wall socket. it has interior sensors and realizes it picked up something larger and spits it back out. My wife does puzzles and has a bad habit of putting them under the guest bed. Irobot went in there and started vacuuming up small puzzle pieces. It comes with 2 avoid area sensors and you wont have to vacuum carpet or hard floors again manually. We have 3 kids, 2 dogs and a cat. I am blown away at how well this thing works. Buy it, get the 4 year geek squad replacement warranty. You have 30 days to try it out and return it no questions asked. Thru Christmas, you have til January 30th? to return, no questions asked. Geek squad plan allows you to just take it back to the store in 4 years and replace it, they dont try to fix them.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. Not all — if you have something that has a cord between it and the wall and there isn’t enough space for the roomba to get in there it will be fine. It also comes with two multi walls, and those either allow you to stop the roomba from passing a certain point (good for doorways) or not come within about 3 feet of the wall. But yes, if you have a cord just through the middle of the floor, you will have a problem.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.it will go over cords etc but if they are lose cords it will drag them around causing potential issues.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You do not need to unplug all wire, but you need to block the way , so robot will not run over them
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I don't have a Roomba, but I had a generic one. It drove up on a folded up (for tidyness) extension cord when it got under the table and it immediately died forever. I guess the induction can short them out since the charging contacts are on the bottom.
