Does it work with 5G null

Hello Work5g, The robot will not work with 5G, only 2.4GHz connections

Instructions indicate that it will not use a 5G wi-fi signal. When I set up, had to use the home's 2.4G signal.

You can control the Roomba app on a cellular connection even when your out of the house. The Roomba does need a WiFi network to connect to, so if you only have 5G you will need a router in your house for Roomba to connect to
