You will have no issues with it falling downstairs. It has a sensor that stops it from falling down stairs. Really happy with this model so far, super quite. We have had Roombas for 7 years now, love them.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Two options. First, you can place a physical barrier like a baby gate to prevent it from falling off stairs. Second, it comes with a device that can be used to place a line or circle that the robot should not cross to keep it from stairs.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I've had mine for almost 2 months. We have a flight of stairs and have never had any issues. The first few times the i7+ was running I would watch when it got close to stairs because I wasn't about to watch it fall and damage a cleaner this expensive. There was one time when my wife and I were out of the house and we received an error message along the lines of "Roomba has stopped by cliff" or something. When we got home, the Roomba was at the top of the stairs, but at no risk of falling off at all. It's sensors must of stopped it as a safeguard. I was happy to see that the sensors do work and did stop the cleaner from any potential harm. After about 30+ cleaning sessions, I've never had any problem with stairs and the i7+
