• Yes, we have hardwood floors and a shag area rug and the Roomba has no trouble transitioning from hardwood to the carpet.

• I would not use it on Shag. Best to hand vacuum Shag with the Powerhead off. Regulars carpets and Hardwood floors combo ok for Roomba.

• Maybe. It will automatically adjust itself to do both hard floors and carpet. However, it depends on how thick the shag is. Roomba, like most vacuums doesn't do well on shag. I have two shag rugs in my home. One has slightly longer fibers. Roomba will vacuum the shorter one without problems, but not the other.
