While technically the HEPA feature is for one use of the bag, I've had no problems removing the bag, emptying it in the garbage and using the bag again. I suspect you can get several uses of the bag before disposal. Also, cough cough, there are compatible bags available from a competing online retailer for a very low price. I get an 8 pack every now and then for approx $18.00.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I would not advise using this without the bags, however we have an Australian Shepherd with so much hair! We have been using our Roomba for over a month and the bag is still not full. You can also purchase accessory parts from Amazon for cheap and that comes with 8 more bags, plus any other part you might need to replace.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I had the same thought— my dog also sheds!!!!…. The bags are durable… I use a small pencil and empty the dust/dirt out of the hole (it is about an inch in diameter) and then put the bag back in….

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. No, it needs the bags. However I have two dogs and it's doing a great job.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. If the bag isn’t installed it would be like using an old upright vac that’s supposed to have a bag…without a bag. VERY messy. No free lunch here. The joy of not having to vac but change bags more often. My experience is- it’s a worthwhile trade off!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Hello None, You need the bags, so the robot does not get clogged. The robot is made to work with bags, so it is not possible to use it without the bags. If you have a dog that sheds a lot, the I8 would do a good job, but something with stronger suction is recommended, like the S9.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Have never tried it without bags.
