The 2 ports located on top of the lighter base are strictly for charging devices. If you want to connect without the lighter port, you will have to see if your vehicle has an AUX port and, if you can find the correct cable, then you can connect from that port to one of the ports on this device. You will still need Bluetooth to connect your device to your vehicle speakers.
