• Yes. As long as your laptop supports a docking station, you can go into your display settings in your laptop and set what action you want it to do when you close the lid. I set mine up to “do nothing”. My laptop lives in a tray under my desk with both monitors over the desk, so I have a really clean and uncluttered desk using this docking station.

• Yes, you may need to just change a few settings within the Windows Power Option > select "Additional power settings" > select "Choose what closing the lid does" > click on the drop-down menu "When I close the lid:" and change the selected option for "On battery" and "Plugged in" to "Do nothing" > Select "Save Changes".
