How do you use them when watching a movie on a plane?? null

They will work off the Bluetooth.

If you mean "watching a movie on the airplane's entertainment system", bluetooth earbuds don't work, unless you plug a bluetooth transmitter to the screen. These things can be bought at BestBuy or any other retailer for $20-30. If you mean "watching a movie on your own device", just connect them as usual. Bluetooth can stay on on planes nowadays.

If you have a movie downloaded on your smart device, they would just pair as they normally would with that device. For movies broadcast on the airplane, [I HAVE NOT tried this] a friend told me that I could use the Aluratek bluetooth adapter (available at Best Buy) in transmit mode. It has a 'receive' function (say, if you want to play music from your iPhone to a stereo) and a 'transmit' function.

Assuming you're talking about the in air movie and that bluetooth isn't restricted on your flight for some reason, you would use them with an airline headphone adapter coupled with a bluetooth transmitter. The transmitter would be paired to your earbuds, allowing you to hear the movie.

The FAA allows bluetooth devices since bluetooth is a very weak signal. https://www.faa.gov/news/press_releases/news_story.cfm?newsId=15254 "5. Devices must be used in airplane mode or with the cellular connection disabled. You may use the WiFi connection on your device if the plane has an installed WiFi system and the airline allows its use. You can also continue to use short-range Bluetooth accessories, like wireless keyboards."

Just make sure they are connected to your phone or ipad and then select them for your audio out (switching away from the phone itself)
