I can answer this two ways there is a heart rate monitor in the right ear bud. The Jabra Sport app will give you the data from the earbuds while you work out. I personally have a Garmin Fenix 5 X and it is an incredible watch however wrist based heart rate monitoring is ok for resting hear rate but when you are exerting a lot of of effort the wrist hear rate method is not the best. You are actually able to connect via Bluetooth the earbuds to the Fenix 5 X and it will give you a better hear rate reading and calorie burn reading for your exercise. Side not the best method of monitoring your heart rate is with no medical devices are... 1. chest strap heart rate monitor 2. Ear bud hear rate monitor 3 wrist heart rate monitor

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Seems to work pretty well for me, there is some calibration to be done. You have to install the iOS or Android app to use the feature. In the android version, it asks you to stand still with the earbuds in and wait for 15s, then it asks you to run in place for 15s and then it has a pretty good idea of your heartrate. I didn't have the buds in properly at first and the running test failed until I completely followed the directions. Also, if you do one of the included workouts, it can tell when you do reps of pushups or squats.
