I figured it out! You just slide it up or down really fast. It's sort of like picking up dust off a counter top lol. You got to remove your finger fast applying less pressure toward the direction needed. Down for less volume and up for more.

There isn't a button it's totally touch (by tap) Volume up touch jbl and slide up Volume down, slide your finger down on headphone Pause - tap symbol once Forward skip - tap twice Go back - tap three times Answer phone - tap once Hang up - tap once again Forward call - tap twice while ringing
