It does not technically announce when you turn it on or off but it does alert you with different sound tones to let you knkw when ots on amd when its off

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Thanks for your question. Our JBL Go 4 does play an audible chime when powering on and off, so you’ll hear a sound indicating the speaker is turning on or shutting down. It doesn’t use voice prompts, just simple tones to let you know the status.
