• It uses 19 v ac adapter not usb a usb will not charge the jbl extreme

• I just use my cell phone charger for this speaker too. Seems to be a pretty standard type plug in

• It will only charge with the cable provided, which is very annoying because you have to plug it into a wall outlet. If you use a different kind of cable without a transformer, it will damage the battery. Trust me, I spoke with JBL technical support directly. Other JBL speakers like the charge 4 ,do use a usb cable.

• A Samsung charger cord should work. That is what I use for mine since I had it. It works great.
