• Yes it does. I can literally hear everything with the mic. It also has a headset plug in that gives you what it is picking up in real time. I can hear if someone is outside, upstairs, wherever.

• To record that is best to have an omni-directional Microphone since the sound you want comes from the top. This record more from the front (or front and back) and is more for talking, podcasting, etc.
