It’s the amount of resistance that the speaker has, the lower the ohm the more watts an amp can produce. Normally car audio speakers are 4-ohm we’re house speakers are 8-ohm. If your amp is rated at 400-watt at 4-ohm then these subs would work nice if an amp is rated 400-watt at 2-ohm then putting a 4-ohm speaker to it will lower the output of the amp. So when in doubt always use a higher ohm. Unless you are very familiar with ohms and watts. By going lower you raise the output and risk overheating the amp and causing damage.
