Thanks for your question! We recommend using bottled or filtered water in your Keurig coffee maker. Coffee and tea are over 98% water so quality drinking water is necessary for a good coffee, tea or iced beverage. Descaling regularly removes mineral build up that can affect taste and quality, ensuring your Keurig brewer brews a perfect cup, every time. Depending on the mineral content of your water, calcium deposits or scale may build up faster in your brewer. Scale is non-toxic but if left unattended can hinder brewer performance. Regularly descaling your brewer every 3 months helps maintain the heating element, and other internal parts that come in contact with water. Calcium deposits may build up faster, making it necessary to descale more often.
