“If wanting "hot water" only the unit must be clear of a coffee pod. So what's the point of the "hot water" button? Why not just proceed as normal and NOT put in a coffee pod, and press the cup size button you want on the unit?”

From what I have found, the HOT WATER button will dispense hot water faster than if you don’t push it. When you brew coffee or tea the water needs to go through it slower to steep the grounds or tea leaves and get all the deliciousness out of the pod. If you just want water it can dispense it faster because no need for the steeping process.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.If there is no K-Cup Pod inserted into the K-Elite Coffee Maker, you can select the Hot Water button and select a cup size to brew. The system will simply brew out hot water. You could also, lift and lower the handle without inserting a K-Cup pod and choose a cup size to brew hot water. Both options will get you the same results.
