It is the result of a clogged exit needle. Clear it with a straightened paper clip and then run a water only cycle.

Please try again later.The problem is that the person who brewed the cup before you failed to lower the handle hard enough to puncture the kcup so the grounds floated out onto the holder. To clean it just pour water on the kcup holder area to rinse any grounds then brew another cup. It should not have any grounds as long as you lower the handle with enough pressure to puncture the cup.

I am assuming that your machine is not new or you would have returned it. If your Coffee is old and the Pods look Pregnant, try piercing the Pod by closing the lid a little and let the air escape before closing the lid all the way and brewing.
