This is a very important question that KitchenAid or all who carry this refrigerator need to definitively answer in 2019. "What year and serial number denotes the the start of the improved model that addressed the ice maker and compressor problems? Were these problems fixed before the platinum interior model?" I actually want to buy one of these, but just can't in light of the current reviews.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I can tell you that I have the platinum interior and this model has faulty everything. 1 year and 3 months after purchase, compressor and condenser gone. Still waiting almost 3 weeks now for more parts. Lemon??.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I purchased this appliance 5 1/2 years ago. WHAT A MISTAKE! Just lost all my food for a second time. The ice maker quit working and a couple days later the refrigerator quit working. I've always had problems with the ice maker freezing up. I paid $3,900 for this fridge, it should not have these problems. I'm not sure whether i want to put another $400-$800 into it. I'm so disappointed with Kitchen Aid. I've also had problems with the dish washer and microwave convection oven. I wrote to Kitchen Aid... never heard back.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I too have the platinum interior model. It is on it's 3rd ice maker (just purchased the 3rd last week) and the 2 stage compressor just died. Again! I am not even going to bother with getting it fixed. The trouble is quality control across all the major brands. Sometimes you get a lemon. I just wish I'd opted for another fridge when the warranty was still in place. (The repair tech recommended getting another fridge, but I loved the fridge...at the time.)

Please try again later.Is kitchen Aid taking responsibility as we have the same model refrigerator as above and have replaced the condenser the 1st year we had it and twice the icemaker. Our refrigerator quit working and the technician can’t figure out why. This is a lemon!
