I have only had the unit installed for less than one month, so I haven't had to clean the filter; however, at the store, the salesman told us to make a routine of cleaning the filter out once each month (with normal usage), more often if necessary. At the store. it only took him a few seconds to demonstrate, where and how to remove the filter and clean it out AND reinstall the filter into the dishwasher. So I am fully expecting roughly the same time requirements as was shown to me in the store. The dishwasher which this new KitchenAid replaced also ground up the food waste, and I like you never had to clean out the filter but did have to have the pipe, which drained into the main, replaced about six months ago because it was fully clogged, MAYBE from the ground up food particles being flushed thru the dishwasher over the years?
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.TerryW, this would depend on how soiled the dishes are when they are put in the appliance.
